This week, I will demonstrate our an example of what your "Calculate Distances Between Planets" program may look like. To complete this program, you need the following skills:
- know about "broadcast" and "when I receive" blocks (look in Events section)
- know about Data: Variables and Lists (look in Data)
- know about custom blocks (look in More Blocks)
- have a gallery to share your work in so I can find it (see last week's lesson)

I will demonstrate how to make a program called "Make Cat Jump". To see the final product, look here:

http://scratch.mit.edu/projects/13668484/

Create your own "Make Cat Jump" program, and save it in the gallery you created last week.

  1. Today you will be working with your Computer Science partner. Do these activities together and take turns typing.

  2. Login to your computer

  3. Start Google Chrome

  4. From the PortaPortal home page, go down to Computer Science, click, and then select Scratch.

  5. (If PortaPortal isn’t there, go to www.scratch.mit.edu)

  6. Mme Annie’s Class and Mme Lola’s Class: One student: sign in  to Scratch (use the Sign In button at the top right). Your Username is something like “AcadecapSS” and your password is something like “wefj78%F”. You glued it into your Computer Science notebook and agenda before.

  7. Make a Scratch program using the blocks on your Scratch Card. Note: The instructions are for an older version of Scratch and things might be a little different now.

  8. Try to complete as many Scratch cards as you can!

  9. Name your project with the title of your Scratch Card.

  10. If you finish with one Scratch Card, ask to trade cards with another pair who is finished.

  11. At the end of class, share your project with a pair of friends.
